So you have a dog as a pet. And it has been exhibiting strange behavior since the last few weeks. It is high time now to take your dog to its vet for a quick check up. Generally, the results are a minor cold or a troubled stomach. But sometimes, it may be not be a minor problem but a disease. One should have adequate medicines to avert common problems like heartworms, fleas, ticks and also the medicaments it takes on a daily basis.

Handling a pet is not at all an easy task. One should remember that your dog is not simply a plaything. It has life too and needs care just like your child does. Dogs almost never say no to food, but it is you who has to decide upon the right kind and amount of food he needs. Maintain a perfect meal routine and you are done with the job almost. If you love your dog and treat him with special dog treats then it is fine but not more than once a week. Search for the dog treats which do no pose a threat to your dog’s digestive system. Just like you brush your teeth everyday, do it for your dog as well. Not everyday but once or twice in a week. No one likes a lazy dog. Compel your dog for plenty of exercises which help it in keeping in shape and active at all times. Like taking your dog for a walk every evening? Good. Increase it to two times a day. Do not hesitate to play with your dog. Of course you like playing with your child, but try replacing your child with your dog. This way your dog will benefit in terms of health as it might be staying indoors for most of the day.

As people need to eat healthy food and remain fit, dogs need it too. Your dog will be less prone to diseases if fed with healthy food and taken good care of. This way your dog will be able to lead a happier and longer life amongst your family members. One needs to be regular in visiting the vet for regular check ups. Make sure that you have got your dog stuffed with all those necessary vaccines before you bring it home. This way chances are reduced for it getting ill. Many diseases are detected at an early age and if provided with adequate treatment can be cured too. Dogs need special care as they get older. If you do not want to spend major bucks on unexpected visits to the vet and hose heavy bills, then you need to take proper care of your dog.

Dogs are routine lovers not like us who hate routines. They will start dancing around when its time for a walk or a meal and not a bath obviously, dogs hate baths. So, implement this feature and stick to a perfect daily routine. If you are caring for its physical health then equally important for it is to stay fit mentally too. So, treat it as a family member and not just any other dog. Trust us, you will be more than happy to know that your dog is hail and hearty.
